In many developed and developing countries, there has been a move toward increased reliance Public Private Partnership for infrastructure development. This involves an engagement with or participation of, private companies and the public sector in the financing and provision of infrastructure. In most countries these PPP arrangements have been aimed at overcoming broad public sector constraints in relation to either a lack of public capital, and / or a lack of public sector capacity, resources and specialized expertise to develop, manage and operate infrastructure assets.

This session will explore:

• the latest challenge surrounding the effectiveness of PPP
• the current strategies in various countries
• partnership strategies for successful implementation of PPP

The financial crisis has highlighted the challenge of establishing stability and growth in the face of global recession. It has also brought into focus the critical importance of ethical dimension in leadership styles and strategies, since the financial crisis emanated at least in part from a breakdown in responsible and ethical behaviour.

In the turbulent and globalized business environment of increased complexity and speed, traditional governance styles based on unrestricted risk and profit taking in corporate boardrooms seemed to be giving way to new approaches that are more responsive to broader societal interests.
