2ND GLOBAL DISCOURSE, 2012 SHAH ALAM
The 2nd WIEF-UiTM Global Discourse entitled, “Churning Out Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Malaysia” was held on 8 October 2010 at the Intekma Resort and Convention Centre, Shah Alam. It was attended by approximately 100 participants comprising faculty members, students and representatives of the corporate sector. A Keynote Address was delivered by Prof. William Miller of Stanford University whilst the Commentators comprised of both local and foreign experts.
The Keynote Address focused on:
- The need to develop institutional mechanisms to create entrepreneurial culture in academic institutions that foster growth of innovation and entrepreneurship amongst faculty and students
- Some key features of an “advanced high tech entrepreneurial habitat” that would enable young and enterprising technocrats to become ‘job generators’ instead of ‘job seekers’ – an important element towards Malaysia’s economic growth
