Leaders of World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) and South East Asian Cooperation (SEACO) Foundation on Wednesday lauded the economic progress of Bangladesh.
The appreciation came when a seven-member delegation of WIEF and SEACO Foundation, led by WIEF Secretary General Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak, met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the latter’s official residence Ganobhaban in the city.
PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting.
They said they had productive dialogues at the WIEF-SEACO Foundation roundtable held at a city hotel with the theme, ‘Regional Collaboration: Transforming Economies,’ on Tuesday.
The WIEF Secretary General invited the Prime Minister to join the next WIEF conference to be held in Qatar in 2020.
He proposed Bangladesh to host the WIEF conference in 2021.
The Prime Minister appreciated the agenda of the roundtable jointly organised by WIEF and SEACO Foundation.
Sheikh Hasina said the government is now setting up 100 economic zones across the country for creating jobs and industrialization.
She said lands in the economic zones are now being allocated for foreign investors alongside local entrepreneurs.
PM’s International Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi and PM’s Principal Secretary Md Nojibur Rahman were present.
