The 14th edition of the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) is set to take place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from 6 to 8 February 2024. Hosted by the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), this flagship event aims to forge a sustainable future by tackling vital challenges, exploring novel opportunities, and showcasing innovative strategies and solutions for socio-economic advancement.
Launched in 2005 by the WIEF Foundation, the forum serves as a vital platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange among senior government officials, academics, and business leaders worldwide. With the theme “Global Economic Agenda: Shaping a Sustainable Future,” the 14th edition will bring together influential leaders, policymakers, scholars, and industry experts to engage in discussions that will shape the future of the global economy.
Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), said, “Hosting the World Islamic Economic Forum is part of our ongoing efforts to foster smart, sustainable, and inclusive socio-economic development globally. Taking place shortly after UNCTAD’s World Investment Forum and COP 28, the WIEF will provide a unique platform to build upon the discussions and outcomes of these significant conferences.
Participants can expect in-depth discussions on topics shaping today’s and tomorrow’s economies, including the role of advanced technologies and digital transformation, key drivers of the global economy, and the growing influence of Asian economic powerhouses. The event will also address trends, opportunities, and strategies developed in the Middle East, specifically focusing on Abu Dhabi’s future investment landscape.
Anticipated to attract more than 2,500 participants from 80 countries, including leaders, key industry players, and media representatives from Central Asia, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and beyond, the forum will feature panel discussions on crucial topics such as ESG, green economy and Islamic finance, food security, the Halal industry, the role of youth and women in business, trade relations, investment opportunities, and technology-driven solutions for economic growth.
