KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak yesterday paid a courtesy call on President of the Czech Republic Vaclav Klaus and his wife, Livia Klausova, at the hotel where the state visitors are staying.

Najib and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, arrived at 10.30am and spent about 30 minutes with the visitors.

Also present at the meeting was Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Douglas Uggah Embas, who is the minister-in-attendance.

Rosmah and Klausova also held a separate meeting at the hotel.

After the meeting, Klaus and his delegation left for another hotel to attend a roundtable discussion organised by the Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (ASLI).

Klaus and his delegation arrived here on Wednesday for a five-day state visit to Malaysia.

This is the maiden visit by Klaus as the president of the Czech Republic to Malaysia, at the invitation of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah.

Earlier, Tuanku Abdul Halim and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah called on Klaus and his wife after the visitors were accorded a state welcome at Parliament Square.

The visitors were hosted to a state banquet at the Istana Negara in Jalan Duta last night. — Bernama
