4th Marketplace of Creative Arts in Bandung

Jakarta, March 28th, 2012 –World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) Foundation through WIEF Young Leader Network (WYN),in partnership with Bandung Creative City Forum (BCCF)and supported by the Alumni Seni Rupa of the Institut Teknologi Bandung will be jointly organizing the first regional creative art showcase in Indonesia and the fourth year globally of the annual MARKETPLACE OF CREATIVE ARTS in Bandung on 14 – 15 April 2012with the theme Design Nation: Carving Creative Spaces,to share knowledge on bringing out the entrepreneur out of the art practitioner in order to create sustainable Art and business opportunities in the art world. This remarkable festival is sponsored by Garuda Indonesia and Yayasan Sime Darby.

“The Marketplace of Creative Arts is a home to a variety of art forms in music, dance, poetry, comedy, film, visual arts and other imaginable art forms.  It is a platform for young creative artists around the world, to showcase their talent, network with other creative artists in different countries, and explore opportunities in the art industry” said Mr. Tanri Abeng, Advisor of the 4thMarketplace of Creative Arts.

The Marketplace of Creative Arts Series is not new to the art scene. It has held highly successful events in Kuala Lumpur (1st Marketplace, 18-19 May 2010), Singapore (19 February 2011) and Astana (7-8 June 2011) bringing together creative artists from more than 15 countries and has attracted more than 2200 participants from more than 67 countries worldwide in these past years.

Mr. Sandiaga Uno, Chairman of the 4thMarketplace of Creative Arts also added, “The Marketplace of Creative Arts stems from the idea that a huge number of young people almost everywhere around the world belong to the creative industry from music, film, painting eager to express their views about society, and art is the only effective means for them to express their hopes and aspirations for a better world. Due to restrictions in the arts, the creative industry is greatly stifled. As a result, young artists face a bleak career path and society suffers from a lack of identity and culture. The Marketplace of Creative Arts carving CREATIVE SPACES where artist can come together from music, visual arts, performing arts, literature, and film, to be exposed in communities & educate public of its visibility & potential, it’s a platform for creative ideas and opportunities to come together in the art world.”

“It is a good opportunity in achieving Bandung aspiration to become an international creative city and bringing Indonesia to the world’s eye in creative business as Bandung has a reputation for being one of five most creative cities in all around Asia and before was picked as the pilot project for becoming a creative city in Asia thus the creation “Bandung Creative City”. The 4th Marketplace of Creative Arts will be the most happening creative festival, held in the most creative city, promised to be the most exciting 2-days event ever held in Indonesia,” said Mr. Irvan Noe’man, Advisor to BCCF.
