Message By Prime Minister Malaysia And Honorary Of The World Islamic Economic Forum Foundation

I wish to congratulate the Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (ASLI) and founding Chairman, Tun Musa Hitam, for establishing the World Islamic Economic Forum Foundation which institutionalize the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) and promote business partnerships between Muslim entrepreneurs and companies. I believe the WIEF can play a useful and catalytic role in stimulating new ideas and thinking on business collaboration and economic cooperation not only among Muslims but also between Muslims and non-Muslims.

Dialogue and cooperation between Muslims and non-Muslims play an important role in enhancing international understanding and goodwill, thereby contributing to world peace. The Foundation can contribute towards promoting dialogues between civilizations to eliminate mistrust and suspicion. The WIEF can also play a constructive role in building bridges and strenghening relationships between Muslim businessmen and those of other faiths.

At the same time, the Muslim Ummah, needs to upgrade their knowledge and technological skills and acquire new ideas and strategies to develop their communities and countries. Successful business partnerships and economic cooperation would enhance the quality of life of Muslims and contribute to sustainable economic development. It is through sustained development and growth that we are able to uplift the lives of the poor and eradicate poverty in our respective countries. It is also important that investments in education and human capital development are given priority as this will ensure that we have the right expertise and manpower for our countries.

These factors, together with good governance, ethical leadership and pro-market policies will contribute to economic growth and the well-being of our countries. I am confident that the World Islamic Economic Forum Foundation will make a difference to the lives of the Muslim Ummah. I wish the Foundation’s Chairman, Board of Trustees, the International Advisory Panel and Founder Members success in their mission and endeavours.
