2012

Jul  4th

The World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) Foundation will convene its global International Advisory Panel (IAP) high-level meeting in New Delhi today, where key industry leaders from the financial and banking sectors will discuss strategically on various business and economic areas. The IAP meeting, held for the first time in India, is hosted by Nasser Munjee, Chairman of the Development Credit Bank Ltd and Aga Khan Rural Support Programme, India.

Tun Musa Hitam, Chairman of the WIEF Foundation, said, “This IAP meeting will enable the WIEF Foundation to solidify partnerships and work towards concrete initiatives based on changing trends and new opportunities in the global economic scene.”

“We strive for an active and proactive meeting to give the members ample opportunities to voice out their opinions,” added Nasser Munjee.

Among the key focus areas of the WIEF IAP meeting will include the regional partnerships and cooperation among the countries which relate back to the WIEF Foundation ideals of “BUILDING BRIDGES THROUGH BUSINESS” including the shifting of economic influence and how Asian powerhouses like India are a rising and influential force to work with.

Mr. Ishaat Hussain, Director of the Tata Group, will also host a Special Luncheon Talk with the IAPs and key invited guests focusing on “The Indian Economy – An Overview” on India’s growth as a strong economic contender; and will predictions that it will surpass the US economy in 30 years become a reality?

His Excellency Salman Khurshid, Minister of Law and Justice of India and the meeting’s Guest of Honour, said, “As one of the strongest economic hubs in Asia, it is an honour for India to host the luminaries of the international business community for this meeting.  Dialogues like this help explore possibilities in economic cooperation which pave the way for rising economies of the East. “
