WIEF embarks on internship programme roadshows

Kuala Lumpur, 5 August 2009 – The WIEF Young Leaders Network (WYN) introduced the WYN Internship Programme through its first amongst a series of roadhows in Malaysia.

The inaugural event, held on 24 July 2009, in cooperation with the Student Representative Council (SRC) and the Faculty of Engineering of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), saw more than 700 students attending the “ “Youth and Internship Exchange: Connecting Cultures and Communities” seminar.

Tan Sri Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak, Secretary General of WIEF Foundation said “The seminar is aimed at introducing the WYN Internship Programme as a means for students to experience work in big companies abroad through internship placements in reputable corporations across the globe.”
With 60 percent of the Muslim population of the world is made up of youths, the WYN internship programme is set to empower young leaders in the Muslim world by creating the opportunity for cross cultural internship programmes.
CIMB Group and Ethos & Company briefed the students from various faculties the internship programmes and packages that the companies offered.
Tan Sri Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak added “Depending on the success of this awareness campaign in Malaysia, we will bring the roadshows to other universities abroad. ”

The WIEF Young Leaders Network was established following the 2nd World Islamic Economic Forum in Islamabad, Pakistan in 2006 and has formed collaborations between universities on vocational and technical training to enhance human capital in the Muslim world.
