WIEF’s 3rd Roundtable To Focus on US$2.3 trillion Halal products industry and US$1 trillion Islamic Banking and Finance industry
Moscow plays roundtable host in the runup to the World Islamic Economic Forum in Kazakhstan in June

Moscow, Russia 13 April 2011 – The World Islamic Economic Forum Foundation (WIEF) will host the 3rd World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) Roundtable at the Ballroom 2 of Ritz Carlton Hotel in Moscow, Russia on 13 April 2011.

Continuing from successful roundtable sessions in Bahrain and Istanbul earlier in the year, the present roundtable, jointly organized with the Halal Development Corporation (HDC) Malaysia will feature growing business opportunities in the Halal products industry and new markets for Islamic banking and finance.

Tan Sri Ahmad Fuzi Haji Abdul Razak, Secretary General of the WIEF Foundation said, “With Kazakhstan playing host to the 7th WIEF this year, the first time the Forum is being held in the CIS Region, we are glad to hold this Roundtable in Moscow. The Halal product sector and Islamic banking and finance are showing tremendous growth in Russia and the region and we can expect a large number of delegates from here to attend the 7th WIEF in Astana, Kazakhstan from 7-9 June 2011.”

A significant feature of the Roundtable will be a special address on Business Opportunities in the Halal Industry by Mr Jamil Bidin, Chief Executive Officer of the Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC) Malaysia and a panel discussion entitled Islamic Banking and Finance : Seeking New Markets by Dr Alberto G. Brugnoni, Founder and Chairman of the Board, Association for the Development of Alternative and Innovative Financial Instruments, Italy; Dr Adalet Djabiev, Founder and CEO, Al –Shams Capital, Russia and Mr Abas bin A. Jalil, Chief Operating Officer, AmanahRaya Capital Group, Malaysia.

The Roundtable is expected to generate much interest with the growing Muslim consumer market which makes up 23% of the world population as evidenced by the growing US$2.3 trillion Halal products industry and the US$1 trillion Islamic banking and finance industry.

The 7th WIEF 2011 will be held in Astana, Kazakhstan on 7-9 June 2011. As in previous Forums, the 7th WIEF will be preceded by the Businesswomen, Young Leaders and Countries in Focus Forums to be officially opened together with the WIEF Exhibition by H.E. Karim Masimov, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.

Highlights of the 7th WIEF include the Leadership Panel to discuss entrepreneurship as a vehicle of growth, Countries in Focus Forum showcasing business, trade and investment opportunities in selected developing OIC countries and Parallel Sessions covering Islamic banking, innovative technologies, infrastructure development, SMEs, Halal ecosystem, food security and alternative energy.
